Microsoft announces new Xbox 360 ("Slim")!

Some news from Microsoft to counteract all the recent hype that Apple have had. Microsoft announced the new version of the current Xbox 360, it shares the same name as the predecessor but is a slimmer, well smaller, version.

It is covered in vents and is now shiny, black and more space-age or nerdy looking. And it included a massive 250Gb HDD and is not a standard hard drive so wont be inter-changeable but Microsoft will sell a connector too transfer your data from your old hard drive to the new one.

Also there are multiple connections, say goodbye to the memory card slots, say hello to an "auxilliary" connection for Kinect, from the naming avoiding "Kinect" in particular, who knows what other goodies we may plug in there in the future. (Kinect is of course, the consumer facing name of the long talked about Project Natal) and many USB ports to fill your thumb drives with gaming goodness.

Not to mention built in 802.11n wireless, which I suspected along time ago[Fordy:]If you want 5GHz you still need an overpriced adapter[/Fordy]. So far Sony and Microsoft counter each other, but how can Microsoft compete without a BD player, even if it wasn't a very good one, Xbox users could have the satisfaction of saying "we have it".

It's $249, or £199 to buy, but I'll let you decide if you will side with Microsoft for this new console...
