Since Steam recently launched into the world of gaming for Mac, I decided that it needed checking out, so soon enough, "Left 4 Dead" and "Portal" were queued up for download. This was just something I couldn't miss out on.
After having quick go on "Portal" and realizing why I never downloaded it for PC, I quickly skipped it and started up "Left 4 Dead". To be brutally honest I was entranced. Playing on a 13inch Macbook pro 2.2GHz 4GB RAM version, the experience was amazing, having never played these games on PC its hard to make a comparison, but the only thing I missed was having only one 13" screen, that ain't how I roll on PC.
The graphics were good, and the games weren't glitchy, they were fine, much better than expected.
The only downsides were that, along with the screen size, I started using a "magic mouse" rather than the track pad - and even this got annoying and I still wanted to switch to my Logitech beast - as well as the battery life quickly shortening, and the casing under my left arm getting warm. Other than that, the experience was good, and all the things I was disappointed with are minor, mice and bluetooth keyboards are cheap enough.
But for now ill stick with my PC for the power and screen size, but whipping out the Macbook for a car journey could be interesting, so id recommend a MacBook Pro if you want portable gaming, and the best all round portability & performance for almost anything else.
