AMD Fusion embedded x86 platform

Nifty stuff, it has to be said. AMD have announced their forthcoming "G-Series" embedded platform, with a Fusion APU (Bobcat single or dual core CPU of up to 1.6GHz, with integrated GPU - but we can't call them that any more - this is, of course, an 'Accelerated Processing Unit') at heart, supporting DX11 and housing 2 DIMMs of your finest 1066 DDR3 RAM.

This will hardly be an upgrade for your current PC, and should you care to ask "But will it play Crysis?" semi-ironically, you would not get an answer in the affirmative.

Notching it down to SFF (Small Form Factor) PC's, in-car boxes, and STBs (Set Top Boxes) - well, this could be a winner.

Apple MacBook upgrades go official -

Following the recent Macbook Pro upgrades, Apple have confirmed the Apple Macbook refresh. In the States at least, and they are expected to roll out internationally soon. And it seems as though, whilst this post was in production they updated the UK site too!

This is reported after a leak from a supplier, showing an image of the side of the shipping boxes stating the content (the upgraded Macbook) was released a few days ago.

Steam jumps in a Portal and appears on Mac and Linux - OpenGL fun all round

Steam, the games client that was, until today, limited to Windows has been launched for Mac and Linux too.


Now remember, it's only running OpenGL games, and seeing as most are made for DirectX it's going to be a long time until you can get your all-important fix of Call of Duty or tear up a few tracks on GRID, on your Mac. (Without Bootcamp, or other VM for all you wise guys..)
